چکیده

We develop the a posteriori error analysis of hp-version interior-penalty discontinuous Galerkin finiteelement methods for a class of second-order quasi-linear elliptic partial differential equations. Computable upper and lower bounds on the error are derived in terms of a natural (mesh dependent) energy norm. The bounds are explicit in the local mesh size and the local polynomial degree of the approximating finite element function. The performance of the proposed error indicators within an automatic hp-adaptive refinement procedure is studied through numerical experiments.

Two-Grid hp-Version Discontinuous Galerkin Finite Element Methods for Quasilinear PDEs

In this thesis we study so-called two-grid hp-version discontinuous Galerkin finite element methods for the numerical solution of quasilinear partial differential equations. The two-grid method is constructed by first solving the nonlinear system of equations stemming from the discontinuous Galerkin finite element method on a coarse mesh partition; then, this coarse solution is used to linearis...

Discontinuous Galerkin Finite Element Approximation of Quasilinear Elliptic Boundary Value Problems Ii: Strongly Monotone Quasi-newtonian Flows

In this article we develop both the a priori and a posteriori error analysis of hp– version interior penalty discontinuous Galerkin finite element methods for strongly monotone quasi-Newtonian fluid flows in a bounded Lipschitz domain Ω ⊂ R, d = 2, 3. In the latter case, computable upper and lower bounds on the error are derived in terms of a natural energy norm which are explicit in the local ...

Hp-finite Element Methods for Hyperbolic Problems A

This paper is devoted to the a priori and a posteriori error analysis of the hp-version of the discontinuous Galerkin nite element method for partial differential equations of hyperbolic and nearly-hyperbolic character. We consider second-order partial diierential equations with nonnegative characteristic form, a large class of equations which includes convection-dominated diiusion problems , d...

Convergence Analysis of an Adaptive Interior Penalty Discontinuous Galerkin Method for the Helmholtz Equation

In this thesis, we are mainly concerned with the numerical solution of the two dimensional Helmholtz equation by an adaptive Interior Penalty Discontinuous Galerkin (IPDG) method based on adaptively refined simplicial triangulations of the computational domain. The a posteriori error analysis involves a residual type error estimator consisting of element and edge residuals and a consistency err...
